About Us

Susan Roberts and Danielle Sears Equine Massage Therapists New Mexico

Our Approach

We are a couple of Nationally Certified Equine Massage Therapists who live in Albuquerque New Mexico who are looking to help horses (and riders) in need. Equine Sports Massage differs from other forms of massage because it focuses on the cause of the muscle injury, with the intent of not just relieving that muscular discomfort, but assisting in the prevention of future injuries. Our goal is to promote healing through massage via gentle, progressive relief.

Why It Works

When a horse works, tension in their muscles can develop and hinder their performance as well as cause discomfort. This muscle tightening does not stay in a localized area. If one group of muscles tighten, the next group of muscles work to compensate for that loss of elasticity. For example, tension in the shoulders may pass to the muscles of the upper arm and eventually to the lower leg.

Through massage, this tightening and tension is broken up by using different strokes that allow oxygen and blood flow to return. Stress is relieved and the horse is able to return to a more complete soundness.
